Warranty FAQ's
Our warranty covers faults that arise under normal, intended use during the applicable warranty period, including:
- defects in materials or components;
- faulty stitching, assembly or construction;
- manufacturing defects affecting structural integrity or normal operation; and
- faults in Bull Proof installation workmanship during the installation warranty period.
Examples may include defective fabric, zippers, poles, metal components, glass, electrical components or supplied accessories, depending on the product.
Australian-made products are often handmade in small batches. Minor variations are part of this process and are not faults where they remain within reasonable manufacturing tolerances and do not affect safe use or function.
Our warranty does not cover damage or deterioration caused by:
- normal wear and tear, fading, scratches or abrasions;
- accidents, impact, theft, misuse, neglect or abuse;
- incorrect setup, pack-down, storage, cleaning or maintenance;
- improper installation, mounting or removal;
- exceeding product, vehicle, roof-rack or accessory load limits;
- alterations, unauthorised repairs or incompatible parts;
- failure to follow product instructions or safety warnings;
- mould, mildew, corrosion or moisture caused by packing or storing a wet product;
- extreme weather, wind, hail, storms, flooding or other external events; or
- superficial variations within reasonable manufacturing tolerance.
An exclusion applies only to the extent the excluded event caused or contributed to the problem. It does not remove any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our voluntary warranty generally applies to the original purchaser and products bought from Bull Proof or an authorised stockist. Second-hand and unauthorised-reseller purchases may not receive the voluntary warranty, but statutory rights may still apply depending on the transaction.
Current SLV and XLZ rooftop tents include a 24-month warranty. Gen 1 and Gen 2 rooftop tents include a 12-month warranty.
To maintain safe operation and help prevent avoidable damage:
- install the tent using suitable mounting equipment and follow all instructions;
- check vehicle, roof and rack load ratings before installation;
- inspect and re-tighten mounting hardware regularly;
- air the tent after use and at least every two weeks during storage;
- completely dry wet canvas and bedding before long-term pack-up;
- use cold water and a soft brush rather than harsh cleaning chemicals; and
- stop using the tent if any structural, mounting or ladder component appears unsafe.
Damage caused by incorrect mounting, overloading, poor maintenance, prolonged moisture or incorrect setup is not covered by the warranty. Manufacturing defects remain covered.
We keep replacement parts for many rooftop-tent components. Where damage is not covered, contact us and we will try to identify a practical paid repair or replacement-part option.
Current Bull Proof awnings include a 24-month warranty. Gen 1 and Gen 2 awnings include a 12-month warranty.
Freestanding awnings are freestanding only in calm conditions. Whenever wind or rain is possible:
- use all supplied support legs;
- secure at least four suitable tie-down points;
- use the supplied or suitable pegs for the ground conditions;
- ensure water can run off and does not pool on the canvas;
- do not leave the awning unattended; and
- pack it away before extreme or unsafe weather.
Damage caused by inadequate tie-downs, failure to use support legs, water pooling, unattended use or setup in unsuitable weather is not covered by the voluntary warranty. We may request photos showing the setup when assessing a claim.
* In the event of awning damage, please immediately obtain photos. *
Installation completed by Bull Proof is covered by a 3-month workmanship warranty unless stated otherwise. This covers faults caused by our installation work.
It does not cover later changes by another person, vehicle or rack defects, customer-supplied parts, accidents, misuse, overloading or failure to maintain and inspect the setup. Product warranty and installation warranty are assessed separately.
Please ensure you strictly adhere to the installation guidelines to ensure your set up remains secure.
Contact us before returning or dismantling the product:
Email: sales@bullproof.com.au
Phone: (03) 9125 7069
Location: 1 Rawanne Close, Pakenham VIC 3810
Please provide:
- your name and contact details;
- order number, receipt or other reasonable proof of purchase;
- product name and, where available, serial or batch number;
- a clear description of the fault and when it occurred;
- photos or video showing the product, fault and installation or setup; and
- any other information reasonably needed to assess the issue.
Do not send a product back until we provide return instructions. For approved returns, use the Bull Proof return label or freight booking we arrange. Unauthorised freight or postage might not be reimbursed.
We will review the information and may troubleshoot remotely, request further evidence or arrange an inspection. We will respond within a reasonable time, taking into account the product, fault and transport requirements.
If the fault is covered by our warranty, Bull Proof will generally repair the product, replace the defective component or replace the product. Bull Proof will cover reasonable approved return costs using the label or freight service we arrange.
Repaired or replaced items remain covered for the balance of the original voluntary warranty period. This does not affect any longer period or remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law.
If the issue is not covered, we will explain why and may offer replacement parts, repair or freight at your cost. We will not complete paid work without your approval.
A warranty claim concerns a product fault. A change-of-mind return concerns a product you no longer want. Change-of-mind returns are governed by our Returns and Refunds Policy and may have different timeframes and conditions.
Installation service warranty
This warranty applies to installation services completed and invoiced by Bull Proof. It covers our installation workmanship for three months from the installation completion date.
This is a voluntary workmanship warranty. It is additional to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including the right to have services provided with due care and skill. Those rights cannot be excluded or limited by this warranty.
For three months from completion, Bull Proof warrants that the installation work described on your invoice or job sheet will be completed with reasonable care and skill.
Subject to assessment, this warranty covers installation-workmanship faults such as:
- hardware fitted incorrectly by Bull Proof;
- fasteners not tightened to the specified setting at handover;
- incorrect positioning that does not match the agreed job scope;
- installation-related wiring or connections completed incorrectly by Bull Proof; and
- installation work that causes the fitted product not to operate as intended.
This warranty covers Bull Proof’s installation work only. The installed product and components are covered separately by the applicable product or manufacturer warranty.
The installation includes only the work recorded on the accepted quote, invoice or job sheet. Unless expressly included in writing, the service does not include:
- engineering certification, roadworthy approval or legal-compliance certification;
- assessment of hidden vehicle damage, corrosion or structural weakness;
- repairs to pre-existing vehicle, rack, canopy, tray or electrical faults;
- ongoing inspection, tightening or maintenance after handover; or
- responsibility for customer-supplied products, hardware or instructions.
The customer must provide accurate information about the vehicle, intended use, existing equipment and relevant load ratings. Bull Proof may stop or change the proposed work if the setup appears unsafe or unsuitable. Any material change to the agreed scope must be approved before the additional work proceeds.
Before the vehicle or product leaves Bull Proof, a team member will complete a handover and final inspection with the customer or their authorised representative. The inspection may include:
- the product’s position, alignment, height and orientation;
- visible finish, marks and condition around the work area;
- mounting points and visible hardware;
- basic operation of the installed product;
- agreed wiring routes, switch locations or accessory placement;
- disclosed limitations, modifications or deviations from the original request; and
- maintenance and safety instructions.
The customer must inspect the completed work, ask questions and identify any visible concern before accepting handover. By signing, stating or otherwise recording approval, the customer confirms that the visible position, appearance, finish and agreed configuration were inspected and accepted at that time.
After approval, a later change of preference - or a complaint about a visible feature that was specifically shown, discussed and accepted at final inspection - is not an installation-workmanship fault. Any requested alteration may be quoted as new work.
Final approval does not waive rights relating to hidden defects, unsafe work, faults that could not reasonably be identified during the inspection, or any other right under the Australian Consumer Law.
Bull Proof may retain job-sheet notes, signed acknowledgements and time-stamped photographs of the completed installation and vehicle condition as evidence of the handover.
Vehicle-mounted equipment is exposed to vibration, movement, weather, load changes and off-road conditions. Hardware can settle or loosen after installation. Ongoing inspection and maintenance are the customer’s responsibility and are essential for safe use.
Unless the product or vehicle manufacturer requires a shorter interval, the customer must inspect the complete installation:
- before leaving Bull Proof as part of the final handover;
- before first use and before carrying any load;
- within the first 100 km or seven days after installation, whichever occurs first;
- at least every 1,000 km or monthly, whichever occurs first;
- before every trip; and
- immediately after off-road travel, heavy vibration, impact, severe weather, overloading, unusual noise or any sign of movement.
The inspection must include, where applicable:
- checking fasteners against the specified torque or tightening requirements;
- checking brackets, rails, racks, clamps, backing plates and mounting points;
- looking for movement, gaps, cracks, bending, wear, corrosion or elongated holes;
- checking wiring, plugs, fuses, seals and cable protection;
- confirming the product remains level, secure and correctly aligned;
- checking vehicle, roof, rack and accessory load limits; and
- completing all maintenance required by the product, vehicle and rack manufacturers.
Do not guess torque settings or over-tighten hardware. Use the supplied instructions and correct tools, or arrange inspection by Bull Proof or another suitably qualified person. Keep dated maintenance records and photographs where practical.
If maintenance is not performed, this warranty will not cover damage or failure to the extent it was caused or worsened by that lack of maintenance. Statutory rights remain unaffected.
Stop using the vehicle or installed product immediately if you notice:
- loose or missing hardware;
- movement, rattling or unusual noise;
- cracking, bending, separation or distortion;
- damaged wiring, overheating or electrical faults;
- water entry around an installation point;
- contact between the product and vehicle; or
- any other sign that the setup may be unsafe.
Do not continue driving or using the product until the issue has been safely assessed. Continuing to use a setup after a warning sign may cause further damage and may exclude warranty coverage for that additional damage.
This voluntary installation warranty does not cover a problem to the extent it is caused or contributed to by:
- failure to inspect, re-tighten or maintain the hardware;
- normal settling, adjustment or maintenance required after handover;
- misuse, overloading, impact, accident or unsafe driving;
- off-road use or vibration beyond the product or vehicle’s intended conditions;
- extreme weather, water immersion, fire, theft or external damage;
- incorrect use, setup, pack-down, storage or maintenance;
- changes, removal, refitting or repairs by anyone other than Bull Proof;
- failure of the vehicle, roof, canopy, tray, rack or mounting surface;
- a defective, incompatible or unsuitable product or component not supplied by Bull Proof;
- customer-supplied hardware, information, drawings or instructions;
- exceeding any dynamic, static or accessory load rating;
- ignoring Bull Proof or manufacturer instructions and warnings;
- normal wear, corrosion, consumable items or cosmetic deterioration; or
- a visible configuration, position or finish expressly approved at final inspection.
An exclusion applies only to the extent the stated cause contributed to the issue. Bull Proof remains responsible for its own installation workmanship and all non-excludable legal obligations.
Where Bull Proof agrees to install a customer-supplied product, our warranty covers only our installation workmanship. We do not warrant the product’s quality, completeness, compatibility or instructions unless we expressly agree otherwise.
We are not responsible for pre-existing damage or faults that were disclosed, photographed or not reasonably visible before work began. If hidden damage or unsuitable construction is discovered, we may pause the work and seek approval for a revised solution or additional cost.
The customer is solely responsible for identifying, confirming and providing Bull Proof with the correct load ratings and requirements applicable to their vehicle and equipment, including:
- The vehicle manufacturer’s dynamic and static roof load ratings.
- The roof rack, platform, crossbar and mounting-system load ratings.
- Any on-road and off-road load reductions.
- The combined weight of all roof-mounted products, accessories, fittings and cargo.
- Any vehicle manufacturer, equipment manufacturer, engineering, legal, registration or insurance requirements.
Bull Proof does not independently research, calculate, certify or verify these ratings as part of its standard installation service. Bull Proof relies on the information and instructions supplied by the customer.
The customer confirms that they have made their own enquiries with the relevant vehicle and equipment manufacturers and, where appropriate, a qualified engineer, registration authority and insurer. The customer warrants that the information they provide to Bull Proof is complete and accurate.
Where the customer instructs Bull Proof to proceed with an installation that exceeds—or may exceed—an applicable load rating, the customer confirms that:
- Bull Proof has advised them of the potential load-rating concern.
- They understand the safety, handling, structural, roadworthiness, insurance and warranty risks.
- They nevertheless provide informed written instructions for Bull Proof to proceed.
- They accept responsibility for selecting, loading and operating the vehicle within all applicable limits following installation.
To the extent permitted by law, Bull Proof is not responsible for loss, damage, failure, injury, additional costs or warranty issues caused or contributed to by:
- Incorrect, incomplete or misleading information supplied by the customer.
- The customer’s failure to identify or verify an applicable load rating.
- Exceeding any vehicle, roof, rack, platform or mounting-system rating.
- Overloading after installation.
- Using the vehicle or equipment contrary to manufacturer instructions.
- Changes to the vehicle, equipment or loading after the installation is completed.
Bull Proof may refuse or discontinue any installation it reasonably considers unsafe, unlawful or beyond its technical capability.
Nothing in this acknowledgement excludes, restricts or modifies Bull Proof’s obligations to perform its installation services with due care and skill, or any other right or guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
If a fault is covered, Bull Proof will re-perform or repair the affected installation work within a reasonable time at no charge. Where appropriate, we may replace installation hardware or provide another remedy required by law.
If the issue is not covered, we will explain our assessment and may quote inspection, maintenance, adjustment, parts or repair work. No paid work will proceed without approval.
Customers may be responsible for reasonable travel, transport or recovery costs where the claim is not covered or the setup was used after an obvious safety warning. This does not limit any right to recover reasonably foreseeable loss caused by Bull Proof’s failure to meet a consumer guarantee.
